It’s OK to do it the way YOU want to do it!
Last week I was reading an article by a Pastelist who does beautiful scenic works. She was listing the “mistakes” a lot of pastel artists make. One being that you should never blend in all the colour on your surface. Allow some of the original paper to shine through. OK that may be the case for a scenic landscape but I have seen works by others – Nudes and Portraits where they were fully blended and just simply stunning!! Surely there a no rules with art!!
I really don’t think you should take anyone else’s idea of what is right or wrong when it comes to art. How boring would it be if we were all doing the same thing. I’m sure they frowned upon mixed media in the past as well.
We are all individuals with very different tastes, thank goodness!!
I will just keep blending, hoping that others are bending the so called rules as well.
